Dennis Wise at it yet again, today defending Mike Ashley at Royal Ascot

Dennis Wise is at it again…

What would be the chances of Mike Ashley lackey David Craig of Sky Sports happening to bump into Ashley minion Dennis Wise at Royal Ascot today?

Total silence from Mike Ashley this summer as the club slides into seemingly ever more likely disaster, Dennis Wise didn’t ‘no comment’ today.

Instead he told Ashley’s other minion David Craig: ‘He runs them (Newcastle United) in a structured way. He is not there to pile hundreds of millions into the club. He will only sell to someone who will take it forward.’

Fancy that, Dennis Wise appearing on live TV to big up Mike Ashley at a time when a sale of Newcastle United is supposedly happening but fans wondering  whether this is yet another case of Ashley pretending that he has any intention of selling the club?

If you think today’s comments seem a little bit familiar, just have a look below at what Dennis Wise has said previously during the Peter Kenyon saga last year…

Dennis Wise speaking on Sky Sports to David Craig at Royal Ascot – Wednesday 19 June 2019:

“I know Mike Ashley…

“…and he cares for Newcastle.

“Even if the (Newcastle) fans say he doesn’t.

“He runs them (Newcastle United) in a structured way.

“He is not there to pile hundreds of millions into the club.

“He will only sell to someone who will take it forward.”

Dennis Wise speaking to Talksport (19 December 2018):

“I think Mike Ashley will sell it (Newcastle United)  if it’s the right person.

“I don’t think he will give it to somebody who will strip the club.

“He will only hand it over to someone who is obviously going to take it in another direction and pile some money in, make it happen for Newcastle.”

Dennis Wise speaking to Sky Sports – 1 October 2018:

“If someone comes up with the right amount of money and he’s willing to obviously take it forward on terms that he is happy with, I am sure Mike Ashley will do the correct thing.

“What he is not going to do is allow somebody not to take that football club forward and he takes the blame for it.

“That is what his mindset really is.

“He’s trying his best but unfortunately in Newcastle fans’ eyes, his best is never good enough.

“And it never will be good enough…”

“But I’m sure in the long-term he (Mike Ashley) will try to do the right thing.”
