The unspoken answer from Mike Ashley
It has of course already arrived from Mike Ashley, via a five week silence and in a manner that dilutes either debate or protest in equal measure.
Give Rafa a great send off on Saturday everyone because be in no doubt that the same silence is in fact the response in full.
We can’t regather until August and in that time, spin will be spun to explain why the best way forward was for a younger manager who could relate more to the team was appointed.
‘Of course we did all we could to try to get Rafa to stay but his demands were beyond the confines of the club’s budget and we are above everything, a club moving forward responsibly and ethically.
We would like to thank Rafa for his time here and would never place the (2015/16) relegation at his door, even though it is understandable how some fans did.’
Seriously though, it is likely to be his last stand and he is deserving of the attribute of an absolute hero.
The timing is everything for these people of course, once many of the season tickets have already been sold and the last game is over, then is the time to dress it up in tinsel and drop it from a great height.
Without the backing Keegan got, Rafa Benitez will for me go down as the best organiser and manager we have had.
On another note, it won’t matter will it, because a majority of our fans have decided to accept anything and everything that happens at this club.
Ashley and crew know the fanbase is fractured to their eternal advantage.
In conclusion, farewell Rafa, you were brilliant.
Here’s to Mike Ashley and the next 30 years of yoyo…you’ve won fella, fair play.
