Liverpool fans have targeted a Newcastle United player.

The supporters sending abusive messages including death threats.

The player in question is Rob Elliot.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper was probably grateful that they made him feel more included, Elliot not having started a Newcastle first team game since 2017 and told by Rafa Benitez to look for a new club.

Some of the abuse and death threats have been made public (see below) by Rob Elliot via his Instagram account.

The NUFC keeper taking it with a smile.

The Liverpool fans in question not able to differentiate between Rob Elliot and regular keeper Martin Dubravka, who accidentally collided with Mo Salah on Saturday (see above/read below), sparking the abuse and death threats.

Martin Dubravka:

“I didn’t hit him (Mo Salah) with my hand, I didn’t punch him, it might have been my hip.

“I wasn’t sure if it was me or someone else but I went to him to say sorry.

“But I was not trying to injure him, I’m not that kind of guy.

“I felt sorry for him, but I was just focused on the ball, and sometimes you can’t watch everything.

“I don’t know if he was out for five or six seconds, because Fabian Schar asked him if he was all right, and he didn’t answer him, so in that moment we were a little bit scared about if he was OK.

“But after one minute, he responded. I’m happy that he’s OK.”
