Newcastle United interested in signing Harry Wilson – Sky Sports

Reports on Wednesday that Newcastle United are wanting to sign Harry Wilson.

The left footed winger has been very good for Derby County this season.

With 16 goals (18 all competitions) in 39 Championship starts (plus 3 appearances off the bench), Wilson has been instrumental in Derby’s promotion push. Including scoring in the 4-2 win at Leeds which helped ease the Rams into the play-off final.

Sky Sports say that Newcastle are leading the chase, along with Brighton and Southampton.

Though surely Derby County will do everything in their power to try and sign  Harry Wilson if they get promoted.

Sky Sports claim a valuation of around £25m and with the prices today, that is what you need to shell out on potential.

This season’s loan form in the second tier has followed on from a loan spell at Hull last season, when the attacking player scored 7 goals for Hull in 11 Championship starts (plus 2 appearances as a sub).

Harry Wilson has been with Liverpool from the age of nine but has not played a minute of Premier League football for them and only 25 minutes in the FA Cup for the scousers.

Having turned 22 in March he looks set to be sold this summer to help pay towards the bigger targets Liverpool will be hoping to bring in, as they look to once again be competing for the Premier League and Champions League.

He became the youngest ever international for Wales at the age of 16 years and 207 days and Liverpool signed him up on a new five year deal in 2018 to protect their asset.

Whether there is any genuine interest in Harry Wilson from Newcastle United/Rafa Benitez, this is the level of player that Newcastle surely need to be successfully competing for, in terms of potential, as well as signing more experienced players.

All Newcastle United now need is to have a manager in place for next season first….
