Fulham fans with interesting comments after Newcastle United hand out 4-0 hammering
Fulham fans approached Sunday in a decent mood.
Well at least as decent as it could be after a season where they spent big but were relegated with a month of the season still remaining.
Scott Parker appeared to have steadied the ship with three wins in the last four games and only one goal conceded.
However, a four goal hammering at home isn’t something that anybody wants to sign the season off with.
Interesting comments below from Fulham fans reacting to the home humiliation.
Some strong/mixed views on Mitro, Newcastle players they fancy signing for the Championship, plenty stick for their own team, whilst also a viewpoint that Newcastle United got lucky….
‘A nothing game, lot of players holding back not wanting to get injury including Chambers whose been top class, Mawson feeling his way back Cairney looked only one giving his all Harvey looked promising when he came on.
And got to hand it to Babel noes his leaving game lost when he came on but showed he’s class and tracked back. Next season time to Judge.’
‘Dream on; no, I dont believe we will be relegated, but to suggest that yesterday had less significance for us than Newcastle, is utter rubbish.’
‘Yesterday was not a Meaningless game. It was a Premier league match and to lose 4-0 at home shows great disrespect for those who paid good money to attend .Compare us to Cardiff who though relegated gave their fans a real treat by beating Man Utd.’
‘It didn’t seem meaningless to Newcastle . So why just bend over and take it like we did.’
‘Fulham should try and sign Diame for the championship – thought he was outstanding today!’
‘Newcastle are letting Matt Ritchie go at the end of the season. Buy him if you can Mr Khan.’
‘Apart from that awful haircut he was sporting today, Ritchie has always been a class act.
He made that first Newcastle goal, we can only dream of having a player with his pace and penetration down the left wing.’
‘Complete waste of a day despite bumping into Malcolm MacDonald, Mike Ashley & Tony Khan after the game.’
‘It must be extremely rare, perhaps even a global first, to see a trio of people including Mike Ashley and for Mike Ashley not to be the biggest tw.t among them.’
‘Malcolm was a tremendous success for us as a manager but don’t forget he was not a bad player.
I think he was signed after only a few games for us by Alec Stock then at Luton for a song. Can anyone remember the transfer fee, must have be on the list of our big blunders considering his subsequent performances for Newcastle and Arsenal.’
‘Planned this trip several months ago as cost, age and distance now precludes multiple visits.
The Fulham clientele appear quite prosperous these day compared with the singularly working class crowd back in 1957 when I first attended.
Such a shame we were completely drowned out by Newcastle’s travelling support throughout the 90 minutes.’
‘Thought Mitro was poor again today, lethargic and couldn’t hit a barn door at moment.’
‘Do you not think the Mitro love affair might be over.
Over the last few games he has been a shadow of a number nine, albeit not helped by those around him, and his general demeanour seems to say enough already.’
‘Over the last few games? He’s been poor all year imo.
Can’t remember one decent game since before January.’
‘Premier League defenders know how to play Mitro’s type.
On his best day he’s Olivier Giroud with less pace. He doesn’t have a lot of “best days” in the EPL, and he needs to not play EVERY game which slows down his already cumbersome play.
He’s not going to get a 30 million pound offer from anyone, so he’s not going anywhere.
Complaints aside, in the championship …with the addition of another winger and crossing right back to feed him…he’s still a 20 goal a season striker.
IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.’
‘If Fulham lose Mitro we might as well forget getting promoted for a very long time…..’
‘I think Mitro has lost his mojo….he appears to be a player that needs to be loved….his hold up play is great, he’s strong he can score a goal with head & foot and he’s still young….give him the service & support and he’ll do well…. he’s not afraid of hard work – but like a lot of our player’s they have lost there way.’
‘Southampton are rumored to be interested in Mitro for £30m. Media talk at the moment but would you sell him for that amount of money?
I’d prefer to hold on to him because we have a proven goal scorer at Championship level in him and he’ll bang in a bucket load of goals for us next season.’
‘Performance wasn’t that bad, it was more so that Newcastle took advantage of their chances more than we did. They also took advantage of our blunders. We had so many chances to shoot, but opted to pass, or opted to dribble instead of cross. Said it somewhere else, it wasn’t until the 77th minute did we get our first shot on the frame when Mitro cut in and side-footed right to the keeper. You can’t win when you don’t test the keeper.’
‘I have seen us play worse and win. Newcastle played well and were sharp with their chances, although our defending or lack of it contributed to our demise, although I felt the scoreline flattered them.
But having said that, when you lose 4 0 at home, it’s not easy to make excuses.’
‘Some guy about 50 with a black n white wooly hat that’s faded, off his head and trying to take on bunch of Geordies, who have just laughed it off, hilarious.’
‘There were a lot of Newcastle fans with black and white hats too!!!’
‘He was Fulham, he was giving the Geordies grief about where they from.’
‘I don’t follow the fortunes of other clubs these days but presumably Mike Ashley has been proved right in terms of not needing to spend in order to continue making up the numbers in the EPL?
I was sat behind Rafa this afternoon & his body language was most strange, not sure he will stick around too much longer?’
‘Martin Dubravka cost Newcastle 5m Euros. Not that we tested him too often yesterday but looked a very accomplished goalie. Liked the way he commanded his area came & caught every cross.
No world beaters at the back for Newcastle just good solid defenders who knew their job.’
‘I must have been watching a different game to some of you and am convinced some people’s view of the game is based on the score and not what they saw.
THE major difference between the teams was defence.
They were competive, well organised and difficult to break down. We were the complete opposite and looked fragile whenever they attacked.
The fact we had 67% possession and lost by such a margin shows how bad we were at conceeding chances to the opposition.
4-0 flattered Newcastle. They had 3 gifts in one game and if the pundits and fans left thinking its all rosy for them they are deluded.
We dominated large parts of the game. They had two chances in the first half, scored them both but did very little else.
Cairney proved beyoned doubt that he is premier league quality. Some Geordies I spoke to after the game said he was the best player on the pitch.’
‘If we lose Mitro we should go for Dwight Gayle.’
