Elias Sorensen finds he’s missed out on one award on Sunday but named player of the tournament

Elias Sorensen found out on Sunday that he had lost out on one award.

The official Premier League 2 Player of the Season award having seen the 19 year old one of those nominated after scoring 20 goals for the NUFC second string.

However, today Aaron Connolly of Brighton was announced as the winner. A wasted loan spell at League One Blackpool not having done Elias Sorensen any favours.

Coincidentally though, today also saw the Danish striker play a key part in Newcastle United retaining their Hong Kong Soccer Sevens title.

Owen Bailey scoring the golden goal as NUFC beat  Glasgow Rangers 4-3 in a dramatic final.

On a personal basis as well, Elias Sorensen has been named player of the tournament in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens. The striker scoring five of Newcastle’s ten goals in the tournament.
