A genuine Newcastle United takeover with Bin Zayed Group as a smokescreen?
What an exciting time to be a Newcastle fan!
A Newcastle United takeover by a billionaire on the horizon – or so it is if you believe recent reports.
But we have been here before.
Amanda Staveley and Peter Kenyon in the past eighteen months alone.
Is this now a genuine bid or a smokescreen to take fans’ minds and attention away from the contract situation with one Rafa Benitez?
Whether a fee has been agreed or not with the Bin Zayed group, the most important matter for our football club and current owner is to tie Benitez down to a new contract.
After all, that man is the reason we are (still) a premier league club on such limited resources that have been handed to him under Mike Ashley.
You just have to look at the job he has done with the players at his disposal. Yes, his football at times isn’t exactly Manchester City-esque, but it’s effective. After all we’re the only side to beat Manchester City in the league in 2019, so I suppose that alone proves it works.
While Mike Ashley still owns this club (irrespective of any takeover talks) he should still be trying to do right and that is giving Rafa a new deal.
Let’s say that’s his parting gift after 12 years of neglect, under-investment and criminally bad decision making.
Now onto the alleged Newcastle United takeover, this entire situation seems odd.
Why are the club happy to allow these rumours and stories circulated around the press without passing comment on them?
In my opinion I do believe there is a genuine takeover attempt happening…but I don’t believe it’s from the Bin Zayed group as reported in the press.
That is why I believe the club are happy to allow these stories circulate, as it takes all eyes away from what’s actually happening.
Am I right?
I guess only time will tell but I’m sure I speak for all of us here when I say, let’s hope it’s true!
