22 year old Newcastle United winger thanks club as he prepares to move on – Twitter Statement
Earlier today, Newcastle’s Callum Roberts was linked once again with Panathinaikos.
Greek media reporting that he and his agent had met Nikos Dabizas.
The former NUFC centre-back now the Director of Football at Panathinaikos.
Only hours later and via his Twitter account, Callum Roberts has confirmed he is leaving St James Park.
The 22 year old wasn’t expected to be offered a new contract and he says he is ‘already looking forward to the future’, whilst also thanking everybody at Newcastle United who has helped him.
A return of 15 goals for the winger in the reserves this season hasn’t been enough to persuade Rafa to give him any more chances.
Good luck to the local lad and hoping he finds success at his next club.
Callum Roberts via his Twitter account:
“Would like to thank everyone associated with Newcastle United for my time at the club.
“From progressing through every age group to playing and scoring in the first team is things I will never forget.
“I would also like to thank all the coaching staff and players I have played with, for making me the player and person I am today.
“When one door closes another always opens and I’m already looking forward to the future.
“Again thank you and all the best.”
