Saturday night official NUFC statement confirms when Newcastle v Liverpool will take place.

A farcical situation has seen fans kept waiting for an unacceptable time period before all relevant parties have agreed to the day and time.

Saturday morning had seen (see below) confirmation that it was definitely going to be Saturday 4 May but only after Newcastle beat Southampton 3-1, has it been announced as a 7.45pm kick-off.

This is despite timings appearing on Sky Sports and BBC Sport earlier today showing 12.30pm.

Newcastle United official statement:

‘Newcastle United’s Premier League game against Liverpool will kick off at 7.45pm (BST) on Saturday, 4th May, it has been confirmed.

The game had been chosen for live broadcast by Sky Sports and moved to Sunday, 5th May but – following the Reds’ qualification for the semi-finals of the Champions League – it has now reverted back to its original date.

And following discussions with relevant stakeholders, it has been agreed that the game at St. James’ Park will kick off at 7.45pm. Ticket details will be announced very shortly.’

The Mag – Earlier Today (Saturday 20 April 2019):

Sky Sports have announced (see below) that Newcastle v Liverpool, Man City v Leicester and Bournemouth v Tottenham have all been moved in two weeks time.

The Premier League and broadcasters claiming that this is all being done simply to help Champions League contenders…

So basically, with two weeks notice, six sets of fans are being told their Premier League games are moving.

Earlier on Saturday morning it had been confirmed that Newcastle v Liverpool had been moved to the Saturday – but no time for the new date available.

However, as well as this new Sky Sports announcement, even though they are claiming in the statement no time(s) has/have been confirmed, this is what is showing now (11am Saturday morning) on their schedule of live TV games (the same timings also showing on BBC Sport site):

This is how that full weekend of Premier League fixtures now looks if you believe the Sky Sports website schedule…

‘Sky Sports has announced a revised schedule of live Premier League fixtures for the title run-in and race for the top four in April and May.

The amendments come after Liverpool and Tottenham progressed into the Champions League semi-finals and Arsenal and Chelsea reached the last four of the Europa League.

Liverpool’s trip to Newcastle and Tottenham’s match at Bournemouth will now take place on May 4 ahead of their respective Champions League semi-finals with Barcelona and Ajax, while Spurs’ clash with West Ham has been brought forward to Saturday, April 27.
