Premier League form table ahead of Newcastle v Southampton tells a story

The Premier League form table ahead of Newcastle United taking on Southampton.

Despite beating Leicester City on Friday night, Newcastle are only 14th in this Premier League form table.

The Magpies also picking up a win over Everton and a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, making it seven points from 18.

This six game run including defeats to Crystal Palace, Arsenal and West Ham.

As for Southampton, they have really picked up under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Before he took over in December, Southampton only had 9 points form 15 Premier League matches, under the new boss though the Saints have picked up 27 points from 18.

That includes four wins in their last six and three in the last four.

Victories over Fulham, Wolves, Brighton and Spurs, though defeats to Liverpool and Man Utd.

With 12 points from a possible 18, that puts the Saints fifth top in the Premier League form table.

However, that recent form could have been even better.

They took the lead at Old Trafford and were then 2-2, only to concede with two minutes to go.

Whilst they also took the lead at home to Liverpool, with the scousers needing two in the last 10 minutes to eventually beat Southampton 3-1.
