The results of the Newcastle v Southampton player ratings by fans.

Always interested to see what supporters have collectively made of the latest performance, when using our interactive ratings system.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

A game that was a non-event for the opening 20 minutes or so, until it fired into life when referee Anthony Taylor somehow failed to red card James Ward-Prowse.

Newcastle quickly then racing into a two goal lead and eventually winning 3-1.

No surprise to see Ayoze Perez (9.3) the fans’ man of the match, a very good performance overall and three goals, a perfect afternoon’s work.

Three others have been selected as the main supporting cast.

Paul Dummett (8.2) excelled at the back as one of three centre-backs. Loads of tackle and blocks seeing him as the main man at the back.

Isaac Hayden (8.0) put in another exemplary performance, an excellent press and then ball winning challenge setting Perez up for the opening goal.

Matt Ritchie (8.0) was in the heart of the action, up and down the pitch and a magnificent diving header creating the chance for Perez’ hat-trick goal.

Three players were maybe unlucky to be rated below 7.0, as it was a real team performance overall.

Ki Sung-yeung (6.2) getting the very lowest mark, despite a tidy display and unlucky to see his effort from outside the box come back off the post.

Whilst defenders Javier Manquillo (6.8) and Jamaal Lascelles (6.7) stuck at it as Southampton had the better of the second-half.

As for the others, Miguel Almiron (7.6) was next highest, the Paraguayan always getting the Saints on the back foot and unlucky to not see Ward-Prowse red carded for taking him out with that cynical foul. Even more unlucky when a hamstring injury forced him off and likely now to miss the rest of the season.

Salomon Rondon (7.5) yet again led the line well and it was an excellent run and assist for the second Perez goal.

Fabian Schar (7.1) did ok at the back but maybe had a quieter time going forward than we have become accustomed to. Whilst Martin Dubravka (7.0) made a couple of excellent saves, dealt with crosses well, then had no chance with Lemina’s consolation goal.
