Newcastle United offering cash plus player for Ryan Fraser – Report
Newcastle United are set to make a bid for Ryan Fraser according to reports on Wednesday morning.
In the summer the Scottish international will have only one year left on his contract and Bournemouth having little choice but to sell, unless the player decides to sign an extension.
All the signs though are that Ryan Fraser will leave this summer after six years on the south coast.
Signed for only £400,000 back in 2013, the attacking player is rated at £20m+ now.
Arsenal are one of the clubs to be credited with interest but now Newcastle United are reported to be readying a summer bid.
The Daily Record say that Newcastle are looking to tempt Bournemouth with a cash plus ready made replacement for Fraser.
The report claims it would be Matt Ritchie plus money heading south in exchange for Ryan Fraser, if a deal could be agreed.
Reports have recently resurfaced, once again claiming Ritchie is desperate to move back down south for personal and financial reasons.
Ritchie is four years older than the 25 year old Bournemouth winger, Fraser right footed but plays on the left.
All teams want to have quick players who carry the ball and even better if they have an end product.
After being in and out of the team with 19 and 23 Premier League starts in 2016/17 and 2017/18 respectively, Ryan Fraser has really come into his own this season.
After three goals and five assists in the top tier last season, now a first team regular he has delivered six PL goals and ten assists.
Only Eden Hazard (12) and Christian Eriksen (11) have more this season. For Newcastle, as well as having scored nine PL goals, Salomon Rondon is also top of the assists with five.
Matt Ritchie has never been able to translate his devastating goals and assists stats in the Championship to the top tier, e as two goals and four assists this season after three and five last season for Newcastle, with Rafa Benitez often using Ritchie in a more defensive role later this season.
The Daily Record state that Aberdeen are watching on with interest, as they inserted a selling clause which sees them get 20% of whatever Bournemouth sell him for.
If Rafa Benitez does stay, then you could certainly see somebody such as Ryan Fraser being of interest. Only Miguel Almiron has real pace amongst the midfield and strikers at the moment.
If Mike Ashley was to allow such an offer, then you would hope that guaranteeing regular football could convince somebody such as Ryan Fraser to come to St James Park, rather than accepting a squad role at a club such as Arsenal.
Naturally, if Rafa Benitez doesn’t agree to stay, then you can assume any relatively ambitious bids to sign players such as Ryan Fraser won’t be happening.
As always, lots of ifs and buts with transfer tales at this time of year but the end of the season is now just over four weeks away.
