Michael Owen predicts good news and bad news for Newcastle United as Leicester go for title…
Michael Owen has been looking ahead to Friday night at the King Power stadium.
Newcastle United looking for the final few points that should ensure safety.
Whilst for Leicester City, they are going for the title…of being crowned best of the rest outside the top six.
The Foxes are enjoying a new manager bounce, Brendan Rodgers having arrived six weeks ago.
Claude Puel having lost five and drawn one of his final six matches before the sack, Rodgers tasting defeat at Watford before winning the next four matches, scoring 11 goals in these four games which were all against bottom half clubs.
They face another bottom half club in Newcastle, who have now failed to score in over three hours of football and have lost their last two matches.
Last April, Newcastle won at Leicester for the first time since the 1999/2000 season, that taking them onto 38 points and pretty much guaranteeing safety.
A win on Friday would do the same, whilst a similar performance would be very welcome, as that game at the King Power was one of the best displays of last season with Leicester flattered by the 2-1 losing scoreline.
No secrets as to the biggest threat to Newcastle, Jamie Vardy having scored six goals in these five games under Brendan Rodgers.
Michael Owen predicts good and bad news for Newcastle.
He thinks Leicester will win but Rafa’s team will be back amongst the goal(s).
Burnley, Huddersfield and Fulham have all still managed to score against the Foxes despite losing, which gives Newcastle some hope.
Whilst you can also take some heart from their home record, nobody in the top 11 has lost as many as Leicester’s seven home defeats.
However, everybody outside the relegation zone has won more away matches than NUFC’s paltry two.
Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:
“Leicester have won their last four Premier League games and the appointment of Brendan Rodgers has seen an upturn in the goalscoring fortunes of Jamie Vardy.
“The striker has found the back of the net six times in the five games since the former Liverpool and Celtic boss took over the reins at the King Power and is at the top of his game at present.
“United have lost their last two league games and failed to score in both matches.
“I think the Magpies will find the back of the Foxes’ net at the King Power but feel the Foxes will gain what would be their first ever Premier League win on a Friday with their current record standing at P6 W0 D2 L4.
“Tip: Leicester to win 7/10.”
