Leicester 0 Newcastle 1 – Match ratings and comments on all NUFC players
We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings after Leicester 0 Newcastle 1.
A complete team performance giving Newcastle the platform to go on and get the win that probably has ensured safety at long last.
Rondon hitting the bar with a spectacular free-kick, before then a cracking cross from Ritchie was met by an even better header from Perez to win the game.
Dubravka – 7: Can’t think of anything that he had to do except for a decent save in the first half.
Leicester may have had most of the possession but they didn’t create many chances.
Manquillo – 8: Looked like a basket case the first three or four times he got the ball but from then on he was brilliant.
Didn’t put a foot wrong defensively and although he rarely crossed the halfway line, the truth is that we didn’t need him to.
Schar – 8: Another stellar performance defensively that was nearly capped off with a crazy run that should have led to a goal.
Lascelles – 8: A rock at the back as he won just about every ball and Jamie Vardy barely got a look in.
Dummett – 7: To be honest, I barely even noticed him, which is probably a good thing!
Can’t remember him putting a foot wrong.
Ritchie 7: Provided a great assist for the goal and was up and down the wing all night.
Definitely doesn’t get enough credit for me.
Hayden – 9: Best player on the pitch for me.
He was everywhere and controlled the game against a player who will supposedly cost Leicester £50 million in the summer.
It would be a travesty if he was playing Championship football next season.
Ki – 7: Was cool and calm on the ball without having that much of an impact on the game.
Kept things ticking over when they needed to be.
Perez – 8: One of the best headers you’ll ever see!
Nearly scored another one with a moment of magic to wriggle through a few Leicester defenders.
Although he did lose the ball pretty much every other time he was in possession!
Almiron – 6: Looks promising whenever he gets on the ball but his final product was consistently terrible.
Long way to go and hopefully he gets as much game time as possible between now and the end of the season.
Rondon – 9: Didn’t put a foot wrong again all night.
Gave Maguire and Morgan a torrid time.
Consistently held the ball up, linked up play and covered so much ground. Sign him up!
