Claims Rafa Benitez wants Newcastle United five player summer deal with West Brom – Bizarre ‘Exclusive’
Rafa Benitez is lining up a complicated summer transfer deal in the summer according to a Monday morning ‘exclusive’…
The report claims that the Newcastle United boss is looking to have a big change over in his squad this summer if/when he chooses to extend his stay.
A key part of that is according to the report, a deal with West Brom that would see five players moving between the two clubs.
You can understand why swap deals could be potentially attractive to Rafa Benitez, as the manager has often been wary of selling players due to no guarantee he will be backed in getting credible replacements.
This morning’s ‘exclusive’ is from Teamtalk, who have a pretty feeble success rate with their transfer stories but this is what they are claiming.
If West Brom are promoted, they say that Rafa is keen to do a deal that would see two players come to Newcastle and three leave permanently for the Hawthorns.
Dwight Gayle has been a big success with 17 goals in 28 Championship starts (five as sub) and is one of the players Rafa Benitez is happy to trade according to the report.
Whilst Jacob Murphy is the other. He has also impressed on loan to an extent but injury has helped restrict him to only six starts and (three sub appearances), though he has been named only on the bench the last three matches.
As for the West Brom players Rafa Benitez is claimed to want, Salomon Rondon is predictably one of them.
Whilst the other two are former England internationals
Jake Livermore is claimed to be of interest with the likes of Hayden and Selvey likely to leave, the midfielder having started 34 Championship games this season and scored two goals.
Meanwhile, Kieran Gibbs is the third player. He does fit the bill in terms of Rafa has been constantly looking for a left-back who can also play wing-back. Gibbs has started 31 league games this season, scoring three times.
Whilst you take any transfer story with a pinch of salt, it would take some swallowing to believe Mike Ashley would be agreeing to this type of deal.
Salomon Rondon turns 30 in September, as does Kieran Gibbs, whilst Jake Livermore turns 30 in November. It doesn’t exactly fit i with Ashley’s preferred signings with resale value.
Both Gibbs and Livermore are players who have been often linked with Newcastle in the past, though that doesn’t exactly narrow it down!
