Achraf Lazaar tells Italian media he is in talks about a permanent move in the summer
Achraf Lazaar has been talking to TMW in Italy.
The Moroccan international saying that he expected to like it at Sheffield Wednesday but that the reality has been far better than he ever imagined.
After impressing in training and for Sheffield Wednesday reserves, Achraf Lazaar was man of the match on his first team debut for the Owls, in a 3-1 win over Swansea.
The Wednesday fans were giving the Newcastle loan player rave reviews, only for him to get injured in the next match.
After six weeks out, Achraf Lazaar returned this month as a sub in a 3-0 win over Forest, then was back in the team and impressing again when beating Bristol City 2-0 on Monday.
Now the left-sided player has said he is in talks with Sheffield Wednesday about making his stay a permanent one.
Lazaar is yet another player who was give a ridiculously long (five years) contract and still has two years to go but the player says Sheffield Wednesday want him to ‘stay a long time’, a situation that would suit all parties as Achraf Lazaar is one of many players Newcastle need to offload.
Achraf Lazaar talking to TMW:
“I was expecting a good experience (on loan at Sheffield Wednesday) but not as much as I’m experiencing.
“They are all happy, they would like me to stay a long time. They saw my value, I’m happy.
“This club deserves great things and the coach (Steve Bruce) has incredible experience.”
In January did you have the chance to return to Italy? Last summer there was Genoa …
“There are so many rumours but until one takes you they are just words. Sheffield was concrete, they wanted me and I’m happy.”
And in the summer?
“Sheffield (Wednesday) would like to keep me and we are talking about it.
“I still have two years on my contract with Newcastle, so we will see.”
Do you think about returning to Italy?
“Italy is my home but for now I’m happy with Sheffield.”
