West Ham fans comments about facing Newcastle United on Saturday – Interesting

West Ham fans find themselves in that middle ground.

Not in danger of relegation but making a bit of a mess in the race for seventh, to be the best of the rest.

The Hammers are 11 points clear of the bottom three but 17 off the top six, though only four behind Wolves in Seventh.

Only one win in the last six Premier League games and struggling for goals – only scored more than one goal in a game against sieve-like Fulham in the last seven PL matches.

After Pellegrini was backed with a £100m spend last summer on top of some talent already at the club, the West Ham fans wondering if their team can show itself to be anything better than mid-table.

Arnautovic has commitment issues in the fans’ eyes and they wonder where the alternative creativity will come from.

They were on a run of only one win in seven games when Newcastle United helped spark them into life at the start of December, in that three goal win against NUFC.

Miguel Almiron is on their radar after his first two Newcastle starts, can Rafa’s players take advantage of a team treading water at the moment?

West Ham fans commenting via Hammers Chat and Knees Up Mother Brown message boards:

‘That fella Almiron looks the business. He was on Pellegrini’s wish list in the summer.’

‘And mine.’

‘Time will tell mate. Looks a bit lightweight to me. Burnley away on a freezing Tuesday and you may see him not fancy it.’

‘This does have the makings of a good game. Both teams in fairly good form with attacking players.

No doubt 0-0.’

‘Looks a tough game. They’re in good form and haven’t lost away all season to a non-top 6 team, IIRC.

That said, their recent wins might work in our favour. They look, and may feel, safe. WHU win by one goal feels right.’

‘Yes Newcastle beat a 10 man Huddersfield and Burnley (who are terrible away from home) at SJP. We should still be winning this and going for it.’

‘They beat Man City.’

‘We need some creation in the middle to break Newcastle down.’

‘They’re bang in form, with four wins from their last six, and are above Liverpool and Spurs for recent results.

We, on the other hand, only have better form than the two teams at the bottom of the league, the one that just sacked their manager, and a Brighton team who basically gave up Premier League football at the start of December.

That said, I think it’ll be closer than the form table suggests, and will probably be decided by one or two bits of creativity on either side.

Hopefully we can win it, as it’ll set us up nicely for the two games straight after, but I could see it going either way at the moment.’

‘Yeah we just played one of the most expensive teams (Man City) ever assembled, they just beat 10 man Huddersfield. The form table fails to take into account things like that.’

‘Equally, Newcastle beat the same team in their last six. We lost to Bournemouth (for example).

Winning breeds winning, and losing breeds losing. It’s much harder to break a streak of poor form than it is to keep up momentum, given heads will be down in the former instance and up in the latter.’

‘Watched them v Burnley, well I think it was Burnley, it was hard to tell as the opposition failed to turn up.

Newcastle look to have a big dominant defence, they coped very well with Burnleys two lumps, the goalie took a lot of crosses and corners out the sky, but were not very impressive going forward where they try and build off Perez and Rondon.

I take us to win by two.’

‘Anyone know if Arnie has gotten over his ‘dont really fancy playing against city away’ flu?’

‘Would be nice to do the double over this lot after last seasons results, but can see a 2-2.’

‘Going to be a tough one this, but I think we’ll just knick it.’

‘Unlucky to lose against Man City due to their player play-acting drop down from the softest touch from Pam. Anyway looking toward the Newcastle game on Saturday 5.30pm, hopefully West Ham to register their first win at home against the Geordies since 2015.’

‘Going to be a tough one this , a resurgent Newcastle climbing the table gradually with a draw and 3 wins in their last 5 and one of the wins was against Man City . Prior to that they had a very difficult run losing to Man Utd , Chelsea , Liverpool and Tottenham . Lets hope we are good enough to get a similar result to the one we got at their place , but we do need to score which is something our strikers don’t do well .’

‘Have a bad feeling about this one, you know a good day to remember a legend is going to be tarnished by a performance on the pitch unfitting to Mr Bonds. Then we probably feel good about only losing 1-0 to City, Newcastle are on decent form.’
