Sergio Aguero pips Sean Longstaff for February Premier League player of the month

Sean Longstaff has lost out to Sergio Aguero in the February Premier League player of the month voting.

In total, eight players [full details below] were nominated after their efforts last month.

Sean Longstaff had only made three Premier League starts in his career before we reached February 2019 but in his four starts last month, Sean Longstaff well and truly announced his arrival.

The votes of the public were combined with those of the 20 club captains and a panel of football experts to decide the winner, with Sergio Aguero emerging victorious.

Not a bad effort from the Man City striker in February, two hat-tricks and seven goals in all.

For Sean Longstaff, his time will come.

That time sadly won’t be this season though, as at his press conference on Friday, Rafa Benitez confirmed that the 21 year won’t play again this season.

The Newcastle boss saying that it is a cruciate ligament injury but not as serious an injury as the one suffered by Florian Lejeune, Rafa indicating that Longstaff should definitely be fine for pre-season training and the kick-off of the 2019/20 season in August.

Also announced today, Fabian Schar DID win the February goal of the month award, that 30 yarder against Burnley sealing the deal.
