Outrageous from Marco Silva as he blames match officials for Newcastle 3 Everton 2
Embarrassing stuff from Marco Silva.
The Everton boss blaming the match officials for his team crumbling under pressure.
Newcastle hardly had a kick or a decision from the referee and his assistants until Rondon halved the deficit on 65 minutes.
The scousers should have been out of sight after dominating the first half with Lee Mason’s help.
Already one down, Newcastle’s fate looked to have been sealed in a 60 second spell.
Jordan Pickford should have picked up a red card but instead the referee didn’t show any card after the keeper brought down Rondon after messing up a cross and rugby tackling the Newcastle striker.
Pickford stayed on the pitch and saved Ritchie’s poor spot-kick.
Play then switched to the other end and the referee refused to stop the game despite Hayden down with a head injury, the scousers scoring a second through Richarlison.
Funnily enough, Marco Silva forgot to mention these incidents as he whinged about offside decisions.
“The third goal is a big mistake from the assistant, there is nothing more to say…
“It is clearly offside.
“It is not just one or two players in an offside position, it is five players in an offside position.
“It is a clear offside.
“The 2-2 in that moment was a big frustration for us.
“So you can imagine the frustration of them scoring a third goal in a clear offside position.
“Ten minutes earlier the same assistant had not seen another offside when they had a chance.
“He is always seeing different things than what is normal.
“We didn’t expect what happened but it’s football.
“Even in the first 15 to 20 minutes in the second half we had counter-attacks, we had to kill the game in that moment.
“I cannot understand…
“The first-half was under control.
“We spoke at half-time, we had to keep doing the same and kill the game in the first 15 minutes.
“But we didn’t create more changes…
“They changed formation, they played long balls and caused us problems.
“Everything I have to say to our players I will say in our dressing room.
“If we did what we should have in the first 15 minutes of the second-half, we score the third goal.
“We have to look for ourselves even if they score a goal in a clear offside position.
“We had the game in our hands….”
