Newcastle United move clear of Everton with disastrous London record
Newcastle United have now moved ahead of Everton after the weekend’s matches.
Sadly though, it is not the Premier League table we are talking about.
Instead it is defeats in the capital.
Ahead of the weekend, both Everton and Newcastle were tied with the worst record in the Premier League when it came to defeats away in London.
Both clubs having lost 74 times away at London sides in the Premier League era.
The defeat at West Ham takes Newcastle clear with 75 defeats and there are two more opportunities this season for it to get even worse.
Rafa’s team still have to travel to both Arsenal and Fulham.
The results so far in London this season have been:
Crystal Palace 0 Newcastle 0
Chelsea 2 Newcastle 1
Tottenham 1 Newcastle 0
What makes Newcastle’s London record extra poor, is the fact that their nearest challenger Everton, have had three more seasons than NUFC in the Premier League.
This is the 27th PL season and Newcastle were missing in 1992/93, 2009/10 and 2016/17.
