New odds have bookies seeing Newcastle United more as top half finish than relegation candidates

The bookies have revised their Premier League odds after a frantic week of action.

With a full midweek programme, there have been major change up and down.

Newcastle United picked up six points from two home games, suddenly putting them six points clear of Cardiff now in the relegation zone, after they lost what looked two winnable home games.

Below are the new odds for both relegation and finishing in the top half of the Premier League.

As you can see from the Premier League table before this weekend’s action affects it, Newcastle would move within two points off the top half if beating West Ham.

In fact, these next three games see NUFC facing three (West Ham, Everton, Bournemouth) of the four clubs directly above them, whilst the other (Leicester) they face in April at the King Power.

If for example Newcastle could fashion seven points from these next three three games, it would put them on 38 points, only six short of the 44 points that earned them 10th last season. However, it is likely a few more points than 44 could be needed for top half this time.

The bookies now make Newcastle United a massive 33/1 for relegation now, whilst only 12/1 for a top half finish, a win today would shorten those latter odds considerably.
