An absolute stunning Newcastle United team goal.

The first team weren’t in action so the Under 23s took centre stage at the weekend.

The NUFC reserves hoping for promotion to the top tier of the reserve leagues and up against leaders Wolves on Saturday.

The contest was Newcastle’s to lose after they tore the visitors apart with a goal inside the first 40 seconds.

Just watch the move below, goalkeeper Nathan Harker starts it and without any Wolves player touching  it, NUFC striker Tyrique Bartlett was the eighth of the young Magpies at the end of the flowing move, sweeping the ball home with an excellent finish.

Great to see Tyrique Bartlett back playing and in form.

He made great progress last season after earning a call-up to train with Rafa Benitez’ first team after some impressive performances for the Under-23s.

However, the now 19 year old South African striker had his progress halted early in the season when a freak injury saw him twisting his foot awkwardly in the turf.

After a five month absence he returned in February and scored against Reading’s second string in his comeback game.

Tyrique is the son of former Charlton Athletic striker Shaun Bartlett and was one of a host of young players Rafa Benitez brought in to raise the quality of the younger age groups. The forward arriving at the age of 17 in January 2017, signing a three year Academy deal.

Bartlett is also aiming to be involved with South Africa in the U20 FIFA World Cup in Poland, which starts on May 25.

This is what he had to say when returning from injury last month:

“Just being able to get back on the field, even running, was a huge relief.

“I’m happy to be back with the team and now want to contribute as much as possible.

“I have never been injured for that period of time before so having to deal with that in terms of being away from home was difficult.

“It was as if I had nothing to do as there was a long recovery time of waiting for my ankle to heal.

“I want to show what I’ve still got after being out for so long.

“It may have been forgotten about or such but I want to show I’m capable of performing well.”

The Mag – 23 March 2019:

Elias Sorensen is away with Denmark at the minute,

The 19 year old Newcastle striker set to play for the Danish Under 20s against Romania on Monday in Marbella (Spain).

In his absence, the NUFC Under 23s had a crucial game on Saturday.

Hoping for promotion to the reserve league top division, Newcastle faced leaders Wolves.

An excellent performance seeing them beat league leaders Wolves at Whitley Park with two early goals.

Tyrique Bartlett scoring in the first minute, before six minutes later Wolves’ Cam John scored an own goal to double the lead.

Goalkeeper Nathan Harker made some very good saves to help preserve the clean sheet and ensure a home win.

Only three games remaining and it means Wolves are top with 37 points and then Southampton 36 and Newcastle 34 points.

Whoever wins the league gets automatic promotion to the top tier, with the next four in a play-off for the other promotion spot.

Newcastle are now all but guaranteed a play-off spot and today’s win has given them a chance of winning the league and getting automatic promotion.

Elias Sorensen sent his congratulations from Marbella.
