Monday morning Dorset Police statement reveals 5 Newcastle United fans due to appear in court
Five Newcastle United fans are set to appear in court.
Dorset Police releasing a statement (see below) on Monday morning confirming that they are charged with ‘pitch encroachment’.
This happened when Newcastle United fans celebrated after Matt Ritchie ran towards the NUFC supporters and was mobbed by teammates only a few yards from the away section.
Seven Newcastle fans were arrested in total but one has been released without charge, whilst a 14 year old is still being investigated.
I wrote this yesterday saying it was farcical that Saturday’s incident was being linked with the jailed Birmingham idiot who attacked Jack Grealish.
Whilst I still also think these charges are over the top considering the layout of the Bournemouth stadium and that, for me, there was clearly no malice intended on Saturday, just football fans getting a little bit excited at a football match.
