Marco Silva has taken his pre-Newcastle press conference.

The Everton boss meeting the media on Thursday afternoon.

Silva confirming that Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines are set to miss out but otherwise he has a full squad to choose from.

Talking about the opposition, Marco Silva declares about Newcastle United ‘They try to be really solid with defensive organisation. Always five men in their back line with four players in front of them.’

In fact ‘solid’ is his very favourite word when describing Newcastle, Silva using it in almost every sentence.

When turning defence into attack, the Everton manager picks out the importance of Salomon Rondon for the Magpies, saying his strength is a big factor in being able to hold the ball up and bring teammates into play.

Marco Silva:

“Newcastle solid at home, the last four games they have won [there].

“I know how Newcastle will play against us, always a solid team.

“They try to be really solid with defensive organisation.

“Always five men in their back line with four players in front of them.

“Always solid, really strong in the counter-attack.

“Referencing their attack, Rondon is really strong in keeping the ball, for their offensive transition.

“They are really strong when winning it out wide, attacking the box.

“They also don’t concede many goals because they are solid.

“They look for solid defensive organisation and then build after that.

“We are ready to go to play a tough match and my idea is to win the match.”
