Marco Silva accepts FA punishment for behaviour at Newcastle United match
Everton manager Marco Silva confronted Lee Mason at the end of the 3-2 defeat at St James Park.
It was 10 days ago when Silva watched his side collapse from two up to 3-2 down.
The Everton manager unhappy with the winning goal which he claimed was offside.
Funnily enough, he had nothing to say about the countless decisions which had gone Everton’s way, especially the ludicrous decision not to send Jordan Pickford off after he rugby tackled Salomon Rondon.
After accepting the improper conduct charge at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Tuesday, Marco Silva was fined £12,000 by the FA.
However, he escaped getting a touchline ban.
The Mag – 11 March 2019:
Marco Silva has been charged with improper conduct by The FA.
The Everton boss having confronted Lee Mason at the end of Saturday’s match.
Marco Silva particularly unhappy about the winning goal which he claimed was offside.
Funnily enough, Silva didn’t complain about Jordan Pickford staying on the pitch despite rugby tackling Salomon Rondon in the box, the most obvious red card ever, with no attempt to play the ball.
Likewise, the Everton manager not complaining about Lee Mason failing to stop the game when Isaac Hayden was lying prone with a head injury, instead allowing the scousers to play on and score.
The FA Official Statement:
“Marco Silva has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following the Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday [09 March 2019].
“It is alleged the Everton manager’s behaviour on the field of play at the end of the fixture amounts to improper conduct.
“He has until 18:00 on Thursday [14 March 2019] to respond to the charge.”
Marco Silva said on Saturday after confronting Lee Mason:
“When they scored the third goal it was a big mistake by the assistant – it was a clear offside.
“If you see the image it’s not just one or two players in offside positions, there were five Newcastle players in the same line in offside positions.
“If 2-2 for us at that moment was a big frustration, imagine when they scored the third goal in a clear offside position?”
