Garth Crooks explains why Newcastle United star makes Premier League team of the week after Everton
Garth Crooks has chosen his Premier League team of the week.
Talking to BBC Sport, he has included one Newcastle player in his eleven choices after the dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Everton.
Rafa Benitez’ team trailing by two at the break but scoring three times in nineteen second half minutes to turn it around.
At the heart of that comeback was Ayoze Perez.
An assist for Rondon’s goal and then two of his own.
Naming him in his Premier League team of the week, Garth Crooks revealing that it is the first time in 11 months that Perez has both scored and got an assist in a Premier League game.
The BBC Sport pundit is scathing about Marco Silva trying to blame the referee for the final result, saying ‘Well, I can tell him [Marco Silva] that it wasn’t Lee Mason who was responsible for his team’s complete meltdown but Ayoze Perez. The Spaniard ran Everton ragged, never lost his nerve and never gave up. Unlike Everton.’
Garth Crooks speaking to BBC Sport, explains why he has picked Ayoze Perez and following that is listed his complete team of the week:
