Embarrassing Arsenal ‘exclusive’ posted ahead of facing Newcastle United
It is Arsenal v Newcastle in eight days time.
Newcastle are looking for the final few points to make absolutely certain of Premier League football next season.
Whilst the home side are in a four way fight for the final two Champions League places.
With eight games remaining you have Tottenham on 61 points, then Arsenal 60, Man Utd 58 and Chelsea 57.
With it being the international break, the media are desperate for stories to try and get attention and they have come up with a quite embarrassing Arsenal headline story ahead of the game in eight days time.
The headline reads ‘Arsenal handed boost as Newcastle United suffer injury scare’ ahead of the match.
It is football.london that have ran with the story and it just sums up the quite shocking standards of much of the media today. They are owned by Reach (formerly known as Trinity Mirror) who also own the Chronicle, maybe they should have had a word with them (the Chronicle) before getting something so wrong.
The injury scare they refer to is involving Fabian Schar. We reported yesterday about how he had been knocked unconscious but had got back up to then play a key part in the two goals (watch them here) that saw Switzerland win 2-0 away against Georgia.
This is the same Fabian Schar who is in the middle of a two match suspension and can’t play again until Saturday 6 April when Newcastle host Crystal Palace.
The Newcastle defender picking up 10 yellow cards in only 18 matches and picking up a two game ban that meant he was/is ruled out of the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth and Arsenal on April fools day (appropriately enough considering this media story).
It is fair enough maybe to get something like this wrong in passing but for a journalist to write a whole article based on something that is 100% wrong, is cringeworthy.
It is a bit like when they make up the transfer stories about Newcastle or other Premier League club supposedly set to take such and such player on loan from another PL club. Making up the story in total ignorance of the fact that Newcastle (or whichever team) already have the maximum two loans from other English clubs.

The latest Gunners news concerns their next opponents in the Premier League
The international break always makes it feel like forever between Premier League encounters.
But when the top flight action returns next weekend, Arsenal’s opponents could be without one of their key men.
The Gunners take on Newcastle United when the Premier League returns next weekend, although they have to wait until April 1 to get back out on the pitch as their game with Newcastle is live on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
And the Magpies will be grateful for the extra bit of time off, in order for one of their key men to recover from an injury picked up on international duty.
abian Schar has been in fine form of late, with the defender scoring three goals in his last eight Newcastle appearances, playing an integral role in the Magpies good run of form that has seen them win five and draw two of their last nine Premier League clashes – moving them away from the relegation zone.
But Newcastle supporters will have watched on concernedly on Saturday as the 27-year-old defender went down injured during Switzerland’s win over Georgia in Euro 2020 qualifying.
Schar clashed heads with Georgia’s Jemal Tabidze, and was unconscious on the pitch for a number of minutes.
He did, however, manage to recover, and played on for the rest of the match.
He is sure to be monitored by the Newcastle medical team ahead of the game against Arsenal at the Emirates on April 1.’
