Elias Sorensen sends message from international duty as Newcastle teammates beat league leaders
Elias Sorensen is away with Denmark at the minute,
The 19 year old Newcastle striker set to play for the Danish Under 20s against Romania on Monday in Marbella (Spain).
In his absence, the NUFC Under 23s had a crucial game on Saturday.
Hoping for promotion to the reserve league top division, Newcastle faced leaders Wolves.
An excellent performance seeing them beat league leaders Wolves at Whitley Park with two early goals.
Tyrique Bartlett scoring in the first minute, before six minutes later Wolves’ Cam John scored an own goal to double the lead.
Goalkeeper Nathan Harker made some very good saves to help preserve the clean sheet and ensure a home win.
Only three games remaining and it means Wolves are top with 37 points and then Southampton 36 and Newcastle 34 points.
Whoever wins the league gets automatic promotion to the top tier, with the next four in a play-off for the other promotion spot.
Newcastle are now all but guaranteed a play-off spot and today’s win has given them a chance of winning the league and getting automatic promotion.
Elias Sorensen sent his congratulations from Marbella.
