Ayoze Perez says Rafa Benitez intrinsic to Newcastle United

Ayoze Perez is in no doubt as to the importance of Rafa Benitez.

The striker saying his countryman ‘has done a lot for Newcastle and we have to be thankful that we have got him.’

Perez saying the manager’s calmness under pressure has been a massive help.

Las season Newcastle had a run of one point from nine Premier League games and this campaign began with now wins in the opening 10 matches.

Lesser managers would have crumbled/panicked but Rafa simply kept saying that with time, Newcastle would be ok.

When Newcastle United have a run of positive form, the manager stays the same, not getting too carried away either way.

By not going over the top, that also gives Benitez credibility when times are tough and he is reminding players of what they need to doto turn the situation around.

Ayoze Perez declaring ‘If you have Rafa Benitez on the bench things are going to go well.’

Obviously ‘going to go well’ is within the parameters of the players you have available but these past two seasons have shown an overwhelming pattern of Rafa’s NUFC outperforming the rest of the teams in the bottom half of the table when playing each other.

Newcastle fans left wondering what could be possible if the manager is backed with more ambitious signings.

Ayoze Perez:

“Having Rafa as a manager is very important.

“If you have Rafa Benitez on the bench things are going to go well.

“He has been really important for us.

“He has done a lot for Newcastle and we have to be thankful that we have got him.

“Obviously, he is a part of what we are doing here.

“Last season we finished 10th, that means something.

“Hopefully we can do the same this season as he is doing a great job.

“He always stays calm and obviously we have to look after him.”
