Ayoze Perez named alongside Muller and Sterling in European Team of The Week
Ayoze Perez grabbed an assist and two goals in a 19 minute period for Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 2-0 after a poor first half performance which was compounded by a shocking display by referee Lee Mason.
However, all’s well that ends well, Perez the key figure as Newcastle fought back to win 3-2.
The plaudits have been flooding in for the striker after his efforts took Newcastle to 34 points with eight games remaining.
On BBC Sport, Garth Crooks selected the Newcastle forward for his all star 11 from this weekend’s Premier League matches.
Then Jamie Redknapp followed up when also naming the former Tenerife striker in his team of the week for The Mail.
Making it a hat-trick of tributes, the Gazzetta dello Sport has added their seal of approval.
As well as their coverage of Serie A matches, the Italian sports paper also looks at the other major European leagues and picks a European team of the week from those players not playing league football in Italy.
Only two Premier League players make it into today’s top 11 from the weekend: Raheem Sterling of Man City and Ayoze Perez for Newcastle United.
