Wolves fans comments on Newcastle United, Rafa Benitez and NUFC supporters ahead of Monday’s match
Wolves fans have been having their say about Newcastle United and their supporters, as well as Rafa Benitez.
Some interesting mixed views on the actual game.
Everything from total belief that a win is a sure thing, right through to likely defeat.
Some of the Wolves fans are also getting a bit carried away with their last three PL games that saw them score 10 goals.
Going on about Rafa’s/Newcastle’s negativity, when they (Wolves) had only managed 21 goals in their opening 22 PL games.
I always find it surprising when some supporters of opposition clubs that we have hardly played in recent decades, have such over the top opinions and vitriol.
In the previous 25 years Wolves have only been in the Premier League for three seasons with Newcastle plus one year together in the second tier, not much to go on when getting so excitable.
Maybe points more to the influence the media have in terms of how they portray the fanbase of Newcastle United.
Wolves fans comment via their top Molineux Mix message board:
‘It always makes me laugh when you get this….ought to be a top six team thing with Newcastle.
Other than a brief moment in the sun under King Kev they’ve been pretty much as crap as we were over the last 30 years.
They have this sense of entitlement to belong in the higher echelons but in reality they are far more Sports Direct than John Lewis.
I don’t like them…..9-0.’
‘When did they last win anything apart from the Championship?’
‘Newcastle, a great night out – full of local slappers.
A club/team that coined the phrase ‘serial failure’ – the Keegan implosion said it all.
They don’t get the fact that the rest of football has p…ed themselves laughing at their ‘big club’ for years.
Sports Direct is the most upmarket thing in Newcastle.
I really hope that we absolutely smash them on Monday evening.’
‘Can’t stand Benitez… fact!
2-1 wolves ….. hopeful
4-0 wolves …..dream.’
‘Just hope we can score 2 as I am convinced we will struggle to handle Rondon again and he will score. Be great to break the magical 40 point barrier.’
‘They’ve not lost to a side outside the top 6 away from home this season.
Proves how tough it will be.’
‘Should be a routine home victory. But, Rafa will set them up to defend and they don’t seem to concede many.
It seems from time to time they remove the shackles but in other matches I’m sure I’ve read stats this season where they’ve not had a shot on target in 90 minutes.
Would love to complete the double over them with us scoring another 3 or 4 goals, but think it’ll be a tight match.
Going for Wolves 2 – 1 Newcastle. Rondon will inevitably score for them.’
‘I’m just hoping they dont get the first goal, Rafas tactics will be to frustrate us for the first 60 minutes, then he will hope that they can snatch a goal, if at any time they get ahead they will be hard to break down, i cant see many goals in this, hoping for a 1-0 win to the good guys.’
‘Either 3 0 wolves given we are in superb form , or 2 0 Newcastle as Benitez does a job on our midfield.’
‘Rafa will park that bus, we’ll need to be patient I think. They took Spurs all the way and frustrated them for 85 mins last week. Think we may edge it 1-0 but wouldn’t be surprised to see our first 0-0 of the season.’
‘Hate these c…s, hope we smash the deluded big club c…s.’
‘They really are not the most likeable bunch of fans:’
‘I’ll take a scrappy 1-0 win against an organised Benitez team any day.’
‘Perhaps a bigger test than the last 3 games. Not a manager under pressure. New signing. Don’t lose away to most teams. In some good form. Very defensive – we really struggle against these kind of teams.
If they get the first goal we’re in trouble. If we get the first goal I’ll feel more confident but we’ll need at least two.’
‘I would love us to do the double over Rafa. I think he really has a problem with us since the Shelvey racist incident and the crowds vociferous reaction in response at the next game.’
‘Another of those games we seem to struggle with, like Palace etc.
I predict 2-1 to Newcastle but am normally wrong.’
‘Can see it being a frustrating game but we’ll get the three points.’
‘Get that under the lights atmosphere going and well get through the frustration on rafas setup!’
‘They’ll sit deep and we know that doesn’t suit us.
Confidence is high obviously and rightly so, but we’ve struggled (and sometimes failed) ‘to beat worse teams than Newcastle this season.
An early goal would certainly be a big help!’
‘It hasnt suited us in the past but we are constantly evolving
I see a comfortable win.’
‘We need an early goal, dont like Fafa he is to negative, but an away point will be a good point for them, 10 men behind the ball will be how they will set up.’
‘Agree, all about the early goal.
We all know how Rafa sets his teams up, if it’s still 0-0 or even 0-1 with 20 minutes to go he’s a happy man. They don’t really have the players to go chasing a game, so if we can go a goal up and stay a goal up, I’d fancy us to finish strongly and pick up the points. Won’t be easy though.’
‘Felt we just about deserved the win at St James’, but I also feel we’re playing much, much better currently.’
‘Going to be tough. They only lost to Spurs from some bad goalkeeping. If we score early it might be three points, but they’ll set up to frustrate Wolves and it could be a long night.
But then again l didn’t think we would beat Everton.’
‘They’ll come to do what they did at Spurs but they’ll have their new man playing his debut.
They’ll want to do what we do away which is to attack on the break.
However, if we get the first goal it’ll be an interesting match. If they get the first then it’ll probably be very frustrating.
I feel sure that there won’t be many goals.’
‘We are inconsistant like every other team outside top six and bottom three I guess.
We are a better team than Newcastle and we are at Molineux.I am sure the smart money is on us to win..but I still remember Huddersfield.
Surely, they will settle for a point from the get go.’
‘If we can get an early goal, or even better two, we will rip them apart on the counter-attack. For all that they are playing reasonably well they aren’t getting any points and will be getting desperate.’
‘They have a lot of their “big” players back for this one,may be tough first half, but we will grind them down and finish them in the second,4 in a row for me.’
