Wolves 1 Newcastle 1 – Match ratings of all NUFC players

Wolves 1 Newcastle 1  – Monday 11 February 8pm

We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings after Saturday’s match.

A disappointing end to a match just when it looked like Newcastle were coming away with all three points.

Rafa Benitez seeing his side go one point clear above the relegation zone.

Dubravka – 8: A few solid saves and looked safe all night.

Wolves missed a few sitters but played brilliantly especially when you consider the mistake he made at the weekend… until the last minute of course.

Yedlin – 4: Probably the worst I have seen from him in a Newcastle shirt.

Can’t fault his effort of course but he was atrocious pretty much every time he touched the ball. One of those nights I guess.

Schar – 9: Another brilliant defensive display and he offered us an extra man in midfield every time he stepped forward with the ball.

Great assist too.

Lascelles – 9: I have been critical of him lately but he really stepped up tonight and was a rock at the back.

I worry about him when he has an attacker running at him one on one but he was frequently up to the task tonight.

Lejeune – 8: Same again for the third centre half who had a really good game.

I think Lascelles and Schar just stood out a little bit more but that doesn’t take anything away from Lejeune. Gave the ball away a few times in the first half but was great throughout.

Ritchie – 8: Another brilliant performance.

Continues to do a great job out of position.

Longstaff – 10: Lets not forget who he was up against tonight in Neves and Moutinho.

Did not put a foot wrong and always looked like he had all the time in the world on the ball.

Hayden – 9: Continues to keep his place in the team on merit.

You would have to stick with Hayden and Longstaff even when everyone is fit.

Perez – 8: Played really well and put the Wolves defence under pressure throughout.

A few nice touches here and there but final ball still lacking.

Atsu – 7: Ran his socks off and provided us with a decent outlet, especially in the first half.

Got no problem if he runs himself into the ground after 60 minutes every week. Looked like a different player since the new year.

Rondon – 9.5: Again, minus the goal that you would ideally want from your centre forward, but it was a proper centre forward display.

Held the ball up well, showed pace, strength. Couldn’t be happier with him.

Almiron – 7: Looked decent when he came on. Fouled at the end of the game right infront of the linesman.

Diame – N/A (Not on long enough) Says a lot about how well Longstaff and Hayden are playing that he was only brought on with five minutes to play.

Manquillo – N/A (Not on long enough)
