Spurs fans comments before AND after beating Newcastle United – Harsh!

Interesting reading what Spurs fans have had to say about Newcastle United, both before and after Saturday’s game at Wembley

Before the match many Spurs fans were showing a healthy respect for Newcastle United and Rafa Benitez.

After the game…a bit of a different story.

This was especially where Rafa Benitez is concerned, especially when he said after the game that Tottenham missing three players (Kane, Alli and Davies) wasn’t such a big deal, considering the array of talent they have throughout the squad.

In contrast, Newcastle had nine players unavailable, including new signing Miguel Almiron as he awaits his work permit.

Read and ‘enjoy’, some of the Spurs fans are even asking what Rafa Benitez has to complain about now that Mike Ashley has allowed him to buy one player…

Spurs fans comment via their top Fighting Cock message board:

PRE-MATCH

‘Gotta keep Rondon quiet.. Stick Dier in for some extra muscle.’

‘I was at SJP for the 90s match when we lost 7-1. Have been waiting for us to dish it out to them in an equal measure ever since.

It’s why I was booing loudly after we won 5-0 against them under Harry Redknapp (shortly before his meltdown) as frankly that scoreline just wasn’t enough for me.’

‘Extremely difficult game again.

Arguably the 2nd of the 3 hardest home games outside of playing the top 6.

We will need to be careful of Rondon’s strength, Atsu’s pace and if this Almiron (not good enough for us of course) hits the ground running.

Another tight affair is highly likely.’

‘Leicester and Chelsea beat City as well and we smoked both of them.

How Newcastle performs at home against a flat City side is not much indication of how they will perform at Wembley three days later.

Don’t read too much into one match.’

‘Rondon gave Sanchez a tough time last time they met i think? Might drop him for 2 at the back with Toby & Jan.

I’d avoid giving Son a rest for now if at all possible. Hes still our biggest goal threat. We’ll be able to rest him once Kane & Alli are back giving us some more options.’

‘Must admit, excited about this.

Over the last few seasons, this club seem to have a problem with expectations. Whenever we have some kind of chance to do something without the help of other clubs, we falter so tomorrow is a great opportunity for our players to put everything behind them, go into second place and really ramp up the pressure on everyone around us.’

‘Nothing suggests this will be easy.’

‘Will never forget how hard work Newcastle at home has been (remember when we just snuck it last season with that lovely Kane goal?).

I’d be thrilled with any win, no injuries, and then just try to enjoy the one week of rest for our knackered squad.’

‘Biggest pressure game since Wolves. Could go ten points clear of fourth.’

‘Newcastle put in a great performance vs City, so we need to remember they are no mugs. Consistency has been an issue for them, but they’re very unpredictable.’

‘Rondon destroys Sanchez everytime they meet.’

‘Fat geordies no doubt already stocked up on sun cream for the trip dooon sooth

Always remember Oz in auf weidersen pet after speaking to Wayne the sparky for the first time – “flash cockney bast..d, bet he’s Spurs” lol’

‘Just saying I do not think we will smash a Benitez managed side who have just beaten Man City.

Real world.’

‘Smash them and smash them hard!

We are in this title race!’

POST-MATCH:

‘Came good in the end, Newcastle were sh.. attacking wise apart from a woodwork and great save from Hugo.’

‘Rondon could be useful for us. A more mobile version of Llorente.’

‘South Korea getting knocked out of the Asian Cup is what has saved our bacon.’

‘One of the most entertaining things that happened during the game was watching the melting snow falling onto the pitch from the roof. Some bits were HUGE. Danny nearly got hit when he was warming up.

Well, it was a pretty slow first half!’

‘Davy just edged MOTM, he didn’t put a foot wrong, he marshalled Rondon really well.’

‘Fu..ing bus parking wa..ers, have some of that.

Getting SICK of cu.. teams parking the bus against us every bast..d week.

Fu.. off to the championship you useless clogging CU..S

FU.. OFF.’

‘Not sure why anyone is suprised..that’s what teams near the bottom do.’

‘Newcastle must be one of the most depressing teams to support.

Go in to draw 0-0 every game and usually end up losing.’

‘Benitez talking sh.. (‘Tottenham’s injury problems are laughable – Benitez’)

Up until the game midweek we have had to do without 3 players ranked in the top 33 most valuable globally, as well as have to do without the one ranked 34th (Davinson) for 12 games already this season. Vertonghen missed 18 games this season, Dele 3 individual spells out seeing him miss 14 games so far and counting etc.

These aren’t shi..y Joselu type players (ED: Rafa had nine players unavailable for the Spurs match) and we aren’t where they are where they can afford 1 win every 4 games. .

Literally who else in club football at the moment can claim to have players of Kane’s & Dele’s calibre out injured at the moment?

Oh yeah but it’s laughable because they’re going without players like Ken Darlow.

Fu..ing idiot, we did him without two of our most precious jewels, a little praise would be more gracious than pointing at the rest of our squad which boasts a player relegated with them prior to signing with us in Sissoko, a player who barely survived relegation with Swansea in Llorente and yet again NO home advantage.

Two wins in such circumstances without your 2/3s of your genuine match winners is top class.’

‘All that is needed from his press conference is this:

“Yeah, so I had the boys park the bus. And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for that meddling Son.”

‘I think he’s saying that more to make a point to Ashley.’

‘Probably but it’s still an excuse that lacks a little class.

Ashley has just gone and broken their transfer record and added another arrival on top of that so I can’t see why Benitez can have issues regarding today.’

‘I think he’s gotten so use to whining about his squad, he can’t help it. Bit of a drama queen.’

‘This was a very difficult game, Newcastle are seriously tough defensively.’

‘Apparently, rafa is a top manager and any club would be happy to have him and his tactical nous…

I call bullsh..’

‘Too true. I don’t buy the working with what he’s got narrative.

Rafa has got more attacking talent than at least 5-6 other PL teams, and those teams manage just fine to keep a solid defence while daring to have more than one man in front of the ball when attacking.’

“Apparently, Rafa is a top manager”

Yes this is the media agenda.

Give him his due he is good at organising buses. 9 behind the ball for most of the game today. Rondon left on his own up front (and very well managed by Sanchez)

It’s the difference between us and them. We’ll always go for the three points. Rafa would have been happy with one today.’

‘We dominated the game, but at the same time, our goal was very fluky and Newcastle had a couple of good opportunities.

A deserved three points on the whole, but you could easily see it having been a harsh zero.’

‘At least the Geordies calling 606 tonight will have to come up with a new moan other than Mike Ashley not spending.’

‘The beer down south will be too weak

The chips won’t be thick enough and no beef dripping

Too many store detectives….’

‘Rafa played good football when he was at Liverpool. He does what he can with the players he is given.’

‘I agree he is a pragmatist, still eye bleeding though.’
