Sean Dyche press conference ahead of Newcastle United “Rafa is making the best of his resources….”

Sean Dyche has been speaking ahead of the trip to St James Park.

The Burnley boss looks like he has done it again.

Just when the Lancashire club were looking in serious trouble, he has guided them to the edge of safety.

A 12 game run saw nine defeats, two draws and only one win, culminating in a Boxing Day 5-1 hammering at home by Everton.

However, undefeated since then, Burnley have five wins and three draws in their last eight Premier League games, with an impressive 2-1 home victory over Spurs on Saturday.

Newcastle’s form since Boxing Day has been three wins, two draws and three defeats, although those losses were to Man Utd, Spurs and Chelsea.

Two form teams and if Newcastle win, they would be 13th in the table on Tuesday night.

Sean Dyche:

“Our target is to keep performing.

“This league is very demanding and the next game is always the most important.

“Collectively, we keep pushing to get the results we all want.‏

Rafa is making the best of his resources and continues to do a good job.

“Generally, overall, they are doing well.

“The run we are on, and want to continue to be on, is energising.

“The players deserve a lot of credit for it, in an unforgiving league.”

After beating Tottenham 2-1 on Saturday, Sean Dyche also said:

“I think that edge that I spoke about early season was soft and now I think we’ve come back to that firmer edge with our play but also the physical side of the game in the sense of covering the distance.

“Our stats have changed in the last eight games, they havee been a lot higher both in and out of possession.

“I think also the quality of play, we’re asking more questions of the opposition.

“It’s tough against these sides, these (Tottenham) are a top side but the number of times we asked questions of them, the number of times we put their back four under pressure and I think that’s a really big part of how we’ve changed since Christmas.”
