Rafa Benitez says Newcastle United must ‘Respect’ 1 point from last 39 Huddersfield Town
Rafa Benitez faces a Huddersfield team that are having a nightmare.
Difficult to believe that after the opening 13 games they weren’t bottom, or even bottom three, actually sixth from bottom.
Huddersfield picking up 10 points in those first 13 matches.
Since then though they have headed in only one direction and are now 14 points from safety with 12 games to play.
These last 13 games seeing them pick up only one point, a goalless draw against Cardiff.
Huddersfield’s consolation goal in the 2-1 defeat against Arsenal was their first in five matches, they have failed to score in seven of their last eleven Premier League matches.
Despite the overwhelming stats, Rafa Benitez has warned his side against complacency.
Not that he should really have to when his team sit only one point above the relegation zone.
Rafa’s message to the team is ‘We approach the game with confidence but we must also show some respect.’
Newcastle’s point at Wolves means they have accumulated 13 points from their last 13 games, one more than they got from the opening 13.
The stats not suggesting a massive improvement as the season has progressed.
People are talking about an easier run of games to come but failure to get at least four points from Huddersfield and Burnley in the next week could see Newcastle under serious pressure.
Rafa Benitez speaking to the Shields Gazette:
“Huddersfield will be a massive game…but all of the games for us to the end of the season will be like finals.
“This next one, against a team at the bottom of the table, people expect it will be an easy game but I do not see it that way.
“Their manager says they will fight until the end.
“We approach the game with confidence but we must also show some respect.”
