Newcastle 2 Huddersfield – Match ratings of all NUFC players
Newcastle 2 Huddersfield 0 – Saturday 23 February 3pm
We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings after Saturday’s match.
Newcastle dominated both before and after Huddersfield had Tommy Smith sent off in the first half.
A 2-0 win but could and should have been many more, the away keeper played well, Newcastle hit the woodwork at least four times, whilst some of the finishing was poor.
Dubravka – 7: Didn’t have anything to do but when called upon he was confident coming out to collect to the ball and take the pressure off.
Yedlin – 8: Up and down the right hand side, was an attacking threat all day.
A much better performance than the previous game against Wolves.
Lascelles – 8: We didn’t have to do too much defensively today but all three centre halves did well.
Lejeune – 9: Outstanding on the ball and was key in the first goal with his long ball across the field.
Schar – 8: The third centre half who had little to do but did what he had to with minimum fuss.
Ritchie – 9: A bit tired of saying ‘a typical Matt Ritchie performance’ but he was brilliant again today and after playing the amount of games he has this season, earned a well deserved rest when subbed.
Longstaff – 9: Outstanding confident performance again.
Nearly capped it with a screamer from 25 yards which hit the post.
Hayden – 7: Did alright, not as good as the standards he has set recently but decent nonetheless.
Should get a well earned rest against Burnley but I’d have him back in the side for West Ham.
Perez – 8: Took his goal well and looked like if he could get into the right positions then Almiron’s class may get more out of him.
Pathetic celebration as per usual.
Almiron – 9: Missed a sitter but aside from that was an absolute breath of fresh air to the side.
Quick, dynamic, good on the ball.
Already looks a league above his colleagues. Looking forward to seeing him start live for the first time at West Ham.
Rondon – 9.5: Definitely the one player in the team that we can’t afford to lose at the moment.
Offers so much to this side, even when he doesn’t score. Like Perez, he took his goal well.
Kenedy – 7: Looked more confident when he came on and may be needed with a busy fixture schedule coming up.
Atsu – N/A: Not on long enough.
Joselu – N/A: Not on long enough.
