Miguel Almiron set to train for first time with Newcastle United ahead of a place on the bench against Wolves
Miguel Almiron travelled over to France at the weekend.
Newcastle’s new signing flew to Paris with his agent Daniel Campos in order to get his work permit sorted as soon as possible.
The club having arranged for a personal trainer to work with Almiron, as until the work permit is in place, you aren’t allowed to even train with your new teammates.
The good news is that the work permit has now been granted and Miguel Almiron is now set to start training on Wednesday with the rest of the Newcastle United squad.

However, with only four days of training at a maximum ahead of the trip to Wolves on Monday, at best the playmaker/number 10 will be on the bench surely.
With Rafa’s attention to detail and desire to have players fully fit and integrated before being considered for the starting eleven, Huddersfield at home on Saturday 23 February looks a far more realistic opportunity for the Paraguayan to potentially get his first start.
His last competitive game of football was on 9 December 2018 when he helped Atlanta United lift the MLS Cup in a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers, a crowd of 73,019 there to bid Miguel Almiron farewell, with the final taking place at Atlanta’s home stadium.
Almiron turns 25 on Sunday but Rafa will be his usual cautious self and refuse to rush the new arrival, who hasn’t played in nine weeks and has only had a couple of weeks of pre-season training with Atlanta, before his move to the UK.
There will be the usual moans and groans from fans, especially on social media, when Miguel Almiron doesn’t start at Wolves.
However, as always Rafa will be looking at the bigger picture.
Especially with Newcastle only two points above the relegation zone, the Newcastle boss knows Almiron could need to play a key part in later games to ensure the threat of relegation doesn’t become a reality.
