Michael Owen predicts Newcastle v Burnley on Tuesday night
Michael Owen has been looking ahead to tonight at St James Park.
As he points out, the two teams are in decent form.
Newcastle with three wins, two draws and only three defeats to Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs, in the last eight matches.
Whilst Burnley are unbeaten in the Premier League since Boxing Day, five wins and three draws.
However, whilst they have started scoring goals and getting results, Burnley have still only had one clean sheet in 2019.
Though they have only conceded seven goals in their last eight PL games, having leaked 41 in the first 20.
That makes it 31 scored and 48 conceded in 27 games, compared to 36 scored and 39 conceded in all 38 matches last season.
Not difficult to see that it was their defending that had dramatically collapsed this season, until recently.
The two clubs have met only five times in the Premier League era with three draws and one win each, both by a single goal margin. Suggesting there will be little in it.
Newcastle can make it two doubles in a row though in three days, having now beaten Huddersfield home and away, as well as that 2-1 away win this season at Turf Moor.
Michael Owen predicts a draw but a win for Newcastle would be massive taking Rafa’s team up to 13th spot.
Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:
“Burnley are unbeaten in their last eight PL games and you have to go back to 1966 for the last time they avoided defeat in nine top-flight games in English football!
“United had 29 attempts on goal against 10-man Huddersfield at the weekend but the inform Clarets will give the Magpies a sterner test.
“This promises to be a cracking game between two in-form sides and I can’t split them.
“Tip is game to finish in a draw.”
