Men In Blazers ask Atlanta United fans if rooting for Miguel Almiron and Newcastle United – Quality replies
NBC Sports presenters ‘Men In Blazers’ have posed the question to Atlanta United fans.
Asking: ‘So you watch Newcastle and root for them because of Miggy or does it pain you to watch him play in black and white, not red and black? Serious Question.’
Some great replies below but I think the overwhelming message that comes out of the responses is that whilst they may have lost a player, Atlanta United fans have gained another team!
Obviously early days yet but really good to hear the love and enthusiasm for Miguel Almiron and his new club,
Our new found friends/fans have had it easy so far and are yet to see a defeat and/or the usual reality Newcastle fans ‘enjoy’ supporting our club.
Who knows though, maybe Miguel Almiron will prove to be a vital building block in Rafa Benitez creating something special at St James Park, if he is allowed to by you know who…
Men In Blazers ask via Twitter:
‘ATLANTA FANS do you watch Newcastle and root for them because of Miggy or does it pain you to watch him play in black and white, not red and black? Serious Question.’
‘My dad is not really an EPL guy, but received this text from him while I was still at work. It put a smile on my face!

He grabbed his Atlanta United gear, took a bus and saw Newcastle United today.
Miggy even waved at him and some other Atlanta United fans.’

‘I watched the past two Newcastle matches just because of Almiron.’
‘Almirón has earned his rightful seat at the Premier League table with Newcastle United.
Nothing but love and respect.’
‘I’ve watched all 3, I’m getting close to being called a Newcastle supporter. No pain whatsoever, pure joy and exceutment. Look forward to more to follow in his footsteps.’

‘I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice.’
‘All the Atlanta United fans I know are thrilled for Miggy.
It’s like sending your kid to college. You’re sad to see him go but know he’s heading to greater things. Plus now I have a EPL team to root for.
Was waiting for reason and now I’m a Newcastle fan.’
‘Watched the last two games because of almiron. I now have adopted Newcastle.’

Came all the way from the states for a week of football in London and couldn’t miss this opportunity.
Unreal atmosphere and fans were some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered.’
‘My entire tailgate crew have been watching since his move and text all during the games.
We love to see him excelling on the top stage. And love seeing Newcastle fans embracing him.’

‘Watch Newcastle United to root for our boy!’
‘Having Pity Martinez as the new 10 makes it painless. Miggy is awesome, you gotta follow them. And Newcastle is like the Atlanta of England. Isolated gem.’
‘I’m hoping nothing but the best for Miggy and hope we may seem him back in the A in a decade after lifting some trophies with Newcastle.’
‘This is ridiculous, I’ve been a life long Newcastle fan since January 31, 2019.
I do miss him in the red and black but glad to see him do well in the black and white. It’s great for MLS.’
‘I’m so happy for Miggy! Wasn’t a New Castle supporter, but am now!!!’
