All eyes are now on Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle fans wondering whether the club’s new record signing will make his debut on Monday at Wolves.

The Paraguayan training with the Newcastle squad for the first time on Wednesday after receiving his work permit.

Matt Doherty has been outstanding for Wolves this season and the wing-back has been talking about potentially facing the NUFC new record signing.

Asked about Miguel Almiron, Doherty is nothing if not honest, declaring ‘I don’t know anything about him!’

The Wolves player though says that no doubt Nuno and his coaching team will fill him and his teammates in on Newcastle’s new player ahead of Monday.

I do like one of Doherty’s other observations though, as he states: ‘He (Miguel Almiron) is playing for Newcastle so he is obviously a good player’, if only we had that as a guarantee on all of our players past and present!

Matt Doherty talking to Birmingham Live:

“I don’t know anything about him (Miguel Almiron).

“I don’t watch much of the MLS.

“We will have to watch clips but we have our own game and they will have to watch us.

“We watch clips and know what their strong points are and what their weaknesses are.

“Every manager probably does the same thing.

“He (Miguel Almiron) is playing for Newcastle so he is obviously a good player but in the Premier League there is many good players and you expect everybody to have something up their sleeve so I am sure we will be able to cope with it.”

“I don’t go to ground that often…II don’t think we will be laying into him or anything like that.

“I’d rather be cuter.

“If we beat Bristol now we are not far away from Wembley. It will be one more after that.

“So it has opened up for us if we can play well and get into the later rounds who knows what can happen. It is important to us.

“Considering we are seventh in the league now and there are not many Premier League teams left we have got to look at it and back ourselves to go and win a trophy.”
