Jacob Murphy is growing with confidence in every game.

After only three league starts in the previous eight and a half months, the winger is quickly showing at West Brom why there was stiff competition for his loan services.

Making only his fourth loan start on Tuesday night, the Newcastle loan player now has two goals for the Baggies already.

Playing away at QPR, West Brom were drawing 1-1 when in the 61st minute Jacob Murphy produced an excellent finish, drilling the ball home to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Rangers came back and equalised, only for Murphy and his teammates to get a dramatic victory in injury time, Livermore supplying the finish for a 3-2 win.

West Brom are now nine points clear of those outside the play-off positions and it couldn’t be tighter at the top.

Tim Krul’s Norwich lead the table on 63 points, then Sheffield United and Leeds on 61, with West Brom fourth on 60.

Dwight Gayle has now completed his ban for diving and interesting to see what Darren Moore does on Saturday.

However, Jacob Murphy looks a definite starter in what is a massive game, the Baggies home to second place Sheffield United.

The two goals and all round performances have seen the Newcastle winger help West Brom to three wins and a draw in his four starts.

Until Miguel Almiron’s arrival, Jacob Murphy was Rafa’s most expensive signing (£10m plus £2m add-ons if hitting targets) since returning to the Premier League.

Despite clearly having pace and talent though, Murphy has appeared to lack confidence. This loan spell could do him wonders as he is improving with each match.

A win on Saturday could even see West Brom go top of the league, if other results also go their way.

Jacob Murphy turns 24 on Sunday, so maybe finally something to celebrate as he gets his career back on track.
