Jacob Murphy made it five out for Newcastle on deadline day.

The winger moving to West Brom on loan for the rest of the season and joining up with fellow NUFC loanee, Dwight Gayle.

West Brom are currently fourth in the Championship, four points off the automatic promotion places but with a game in hand.

A massive game tomorrow as the Baggies face Middlesbrough who are fifth, if West Brom win they go six points ahead of the Smoggies.

In total, West Brom brought in three loan players, with Jefferson Montero from Swansea and Stefan Johansen from Fulham, coming in with Jacob Murphy.

Murphy scored nine times for Norwich in the Championship season before Newcastle bought him and is desperate for regular football, as he attempts to kickstart his career again.

Yesterday, Newcastle also moved out four others on loan: Achraf Lazaar and Rolando Aarons to Sheffield Wednesday, Josef Yarney to Chesterfield, as well as Callum Roberts to Colchester.

Incoming saw Miguel Almiron arrive of course in a deal that will eventually cost Newcastle around £20m, whilst left sided defender Antonio Barreca came in on a loan with buyout option.

West Brom announce Jacob Murphy:

‘Albion have this afternoon secured the services of Jacob Murphy on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old winger has made 13 appearances for the Magpies this term. His involvement in the Emirates FA Cup prevents him from playing in Wednesday’s fourth-round replay against Brighton.

Murphy, an England Under-21 international, is eligible to play in Saturday’s clash with Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns.

Head Coach Darren Moore welcomed Jacob to the Club and predicted an exciting treat for Albion fans.

“He’s another exciting young prospect for English football, an England Under 21 international who has got qualities I think our supporters will enjoy,” he said.

“He has bags of energy, plenty of pace and a freshness which will be a welcome addition to the team. I’m really thrilled we have got him in.”
