Burnley ask for more tickets for Newcastle United game – Update on likely crowd
It is Newcastle v Burnley on Tuesday night, as Rafa Benitez’ team look to make it four home Premier League wins in a row.
Whilst Huddersfield on Saturday almost sold out (52,174), this was always going to be a tough ask.
Live on TV home to Burnley on a Tuesday night, only three days after another home game.
Burnley took only 1,155 tickets originally but a look on their official website shows that they requested another 240 tickets last Wednesday, meaning they will have a maximum of 1,395 supporters tomorrow night.
Unbeaten since Boxing Day in the league with five wins and three draws, their good form has obviously tempted a few more to make the short trip (by normal standards for Newcastle’s travelling fans!).
However, not much of a dent in the 3,200 maximum away allocation at St James Park.
The Newcastle v Burnley match saw NUFC’s lowest PL crowd last season, 50,174 including 1,800 visiting fans.
Tuesday night is destined to be the same.
The lowest so far was the 49,157 (all this season’s home crowds below) that watched the 1-0 win over Watford but a look on the official NUFC ticketing website shows around four and a half thousand unsold tickets.
Suggesting a crowd of around/under forty eight thousand.
Newcastle slashed prices to £15 and £5 concessions up in Level 7 and hopefully that plus better football and the promise of Miguel Almiron will tempt a few more out tomorrow.
You have to feel sorry for Burnley fans fancying a weekend in Newcastle, as last season it was a Wednesday night in January and now Tuesday night in February.
