Reading these Cardiff fans comments ahead of Newcastle United match cheered me up!
Cardiff fans find themselves outside the relegation zone ahead of playing Newcastle United but the feelgood factor is in short supply.
Reading the comments below, the overwhelming reaction is that they are going to definitely lose at St James Park on Saturday.
Lets hope they are right!
Newcastle have won one of their last nine Premier League matches, a slightly fortunate 1-0 win at Huddersfield.
Cardiff have won one of their last seven games (all competitions), a very lucky 1-0 victory at Leicester.
This has all the makings of a classic..
Another coincidence sees the two clubs both set to have a Murphy on the bench.
Jacob Murphy has struggled to do even that this season but with so many players set to be missing, he should be named amongst the subs.
Whilst after a promising start with Cardiff, Josh Murphy has now found himself dropped, the Cardiff fans wondering if Neil Warnock has wasted money on their two £10m+ summer signings, Bobby Reid and Murphy.
The prize on Saturday is a place outside the relegation zone.
Cardiff fans at least have some good news on the horizon with two new strikers reportedly set to land, including a new club record signing for around £20m.
As for Newcastle fans and Rafa Benitez, we are left looking at on-loan Salomon Rondon as the only hope for goals still, thanks to what looks set to be a signing-free January.
Cardiff City fans commenting via their Cardiff City Forum and CCMB message boards:
‘Newcastle will think they are the bees knees now (after beating Blackburn 4-2).’
‘A few starters from Saturday including Clark and Lescalles who both got injured.
The most likely replacement for one of them, Fernandez, played the full 120 minutes.’
‘3-1 Newcastle, we’ll make them look like brazil.’
‘4-0 Newcastle.’
‘Three bad performances and everyone seems to think we are crap. So a good time to go up there and batter them, 0-0.’
‘If, through injury, we are forced to go with Gunnarsson and Ralls in midfield.. 4-1 Newcastle.’
‘I think our players are showing signs of burning out.
Camarasa looks doubtful for this one and without him up there we have no chance.
Trying not to be down about it but see nothing but a Newcastle win unless we sign reinforcements.’
‘I would happily take a draw as I thought they were unlucky to lose against Chelsea.’
‘This game is massive.’
‘Crying out for a win after last week’s sh..show.’
‘I’m personally looking forward to the game.
I can’t see us getting anything from the game, IMO it’ll be 2/3 – 0 to Newcastle. A good away day though, proper stadium with proper fans.
We’ve got to try an enjoy these trips as it sure has hell beats an away trip to Preston or Bolton in the Championship.
Just don’t see us creating enough. The mentality of not losing rather than try to win seems to have worked its way into our home form now, and agree with a previous post that the players are starting to look tired. He doesn’t seem to trust Murphy and Reid, who would have been a breath of fresh air in Saturday’s game. So looks like Patterson is going to plough a lone furrow again saturday.’
‘Huge game and a win would be massive. Fact is I’d take a draw now away from home.’
‘We are so sh.. away. 2-0 Newcastle.’
‘No Reid no Murphy? if Warnock don’t play them Saturday for me he should not have signed them at all. What a waste, and to think they were both £10m fees.’
‘Newc 2 City 0.’
‘Funny how your week can change if 2 new strikers in, possible snow, hats off to those who travel to this feeling deflated, proper fans.’
‘Take a bore draw for this one without a doubt.’
‘I may be wrong but we haven’t signed saia or niasse yet, haven’t we got to have them onboard by midday Friday to play Saturday?’
‘Wouldn’t we need international clearance in both cases.
That can take time I think so probably lost any hope of either playing Saturday.
Don’t quote me on that as I don’t know how it works but I just recall it holding up transfers of foreign players in the past.’
‘If Warnock has to field a team of the current squad, we will lose 3-1.’
‘You mean to say Paterson and Healey up top won’t work?’
‘I mean the whole team looked jaded and clueless against Huddersfield.
One week on playing in a stadium with over 50,000 noisy Geordies…’
