The results of the Newcastle United v Manchester United player ratings by fans.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

A rare top spot for Christian Atsu (6.7) as he got into some great positions and had some decent play overall – but just no end product.

After that, we are looking at a lot of hard work but mediocrity at same time.

Eight of the other ten starters got marks in the range of 5.3 to 5.9.

Best of these was Fabian Schar (5.9) who did ok at the back and  his distribution was generally good.

Dummett (5.8) and Paul Dummett (5.8) were committed, whilst Diame (5.7) and DeAndre Yedlin (5.6) put plenty yards in.

At the lower end of that mediocrity were Rondon (5.4) who had precious little service and Lascelles (5.4) who was a bit reckless with his challenges at times.

Meanwhile, the usually ever reliable Martin Dubravka (5.3) made the mistake for the first goal and was marked down accordingly.

The two at the very bottom were Isaac Hayden (4.7) who looks very limited at this level, whilst Ayoze Perez (3.2) put in yet another anonymous contribution.

Those ratings show that the performances put in by the majority of Newcastle players is nothing short of disgraceful & it`s all down to King Rat buying cheap players year on year.

    • Wor Lass

It`s worrying that people are finding it harder to at least give players points for honest effort.

      • Ram Kishore

        I don’t vote.
But I can see why the points are low.
Too many dire performances can suck out everything, even the slightest bit of interest in anyone. Even if the players are giving the best.
A win or a goal can nullify it to a extent which we is a must today.

  • Leicester Mag

Par for the calibre of players we have. Mediocrity rules

  • Damon Horner

Hayden had a better game than his rating suggests. The lad was an effective ball winner. His only mistake was being tackled himself for the second goal.

    • Big Al 1967

Exactly right not at all to blame for the second goal. From the tackle the ball drops between three black and white shirts, none of whom react, to which Rashford cannot believe what he is seeing, nips in and from then on in it is just a case of black and white shirts ball watching.

    • mentalman

One of the non favourites has to get a bad score when Dummett plays well.

      • Damon Horner

Some of our fans are a simple breed. If they don’t understand the players role or the player has offended them (Hayden and Perez) you can guarantee lower marks.

Dummett hasn’t improved a great deal, he is more understood as a defensive player these days. I know like me you’ve recognised that a while back.

  • Kenny

I see the mighty Bournemouth have just signed a striker for just short of £20m.
Where`s the money going, you Fat tossa

    • Vodkamagpie

Bournemouth has a squad mostly on championship wages, Francis, cook, Smith, Daniels, surman, gosling, fraser, Wilson, king, etc etc. Its not about the amount of money you spend on transfers, it’s about wages, behind the scenes, where you as a fan have know idea unfortunately

      • Damon Horner

Sorry mate, Global Sports Salary Survey positions us beneath them on wages.

What you should probably ask is whether they’d be happy if we spent that on Solanke.

        • Vodkamagpie

Sorry mate, we were relagated recently, which has an impact. What are the wages of the two clubs?

          • Billmag

            The crash = Ashley
            The impact= Ashley
            You do the maths.

          • Wor Lass

Congrats on not saying “math” — I hate those Americanisms!!

          • Billmag

            😀😀

          • Damon Horner

Think we averaged 1.3m per player and them 1.6m. That’s probably a little closer now Defoe has left.

          • Wor Lass

            Nice one.

          • Vodkamagpie

That should be expected considering bournemouth have been in the premier league for 4/5 seasons straight. They brought a winning championship team into the premier league, with the manager not stating it will be a miracle to survive. They are trying improve their team gradually, every season a 20mil odd player arrives, Ibe, bergovic, cook, ake, lerma, Rico, etc. Positive manager, player positive football, might equal a positive final league position

          • Damon Horner

            This could go on forever….

They’ve had as many PL seasons as we’ve had in last 5 years.

Also, Google “Bournemouth financial fair play”. That should give you an indication of their Championship spending levels.

          • Vodkamagpie

Newcastle and bournemouth are in different stages in their football history

        • Ram Kishore

They have enough to spend on wages and transfer, he is partially right on their players on lesser wages. We overpaid for many players on both transfers and wages in the summer of 2016.
          Cost of relegation.
Almost all their players stepped up after promotion.
We can also say under Rafa’s tenure, there a quite a lot/few transfer failures.
Idk whether it was Carr’s or Rafa’s but we have wasted a lot. Not to forget other constraints put by Ashley.
All I expect this window are loans.
It’s really a very good decision by Rafa not to speak about transfer imo.
Media will keep their mouth shut for sometime.

    • GlasgowMag

Yes and on his interview he has mentioned “This club is going somewhere” while our club is going down the knackers yard!!

    • Guest

In 1996 Bournemouth were a mid. Table third tier club .
We were breaking world records on 15 million shearer.
The world has changed and now 19 million gets you a lad who has scored an amazing 2 league goals
we can’t or won’t compete with Bournemouth
There can only be one outcome

We are going down . The question is for how long this time.

      • Vodkamagpie

Didn’t stoke buy shaqiri, wimmer, berihinho, imbulu etc, that club was going somewhere aswel

        • Guest

          You are right.
Money is absolutely no guarantee of a winning team . God knows we are proof of that
But spending nowt is a guarantee of failure
We have to invest in this team because it’s obvious it’s not strong enough
Sadly 19 million for an unproven kid is the going rate
We have to play the same game as the others and hope our manager invests well

    • Leicester Mag

Yup the mighty Newcastle currently baulking over paying a goal a game youngster more than £1.5K a week. What a truckin joke.

  • drc74
