Newcastle 3 Cardiff 0 – Match ratings of all NUFC players
Newcastle 3 Cardiff 0 – Saturday 19 January 3pm
We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings after tonight’s match.
Newcastle climbing out of the bottom three ahead of games against Man City (home) and Spurs and Wolves (both away).
The first Premier League win by more than one goal for eight months, when then reigning PL champions Chelsea were also beaten 3-0.
Dubravka 7 – I can’t remember him having a save to make.
A clean sheet and probably the quietest game he will have all season.
Yedlin 8 – Spent most of the game marauding down the right hand side. He was brilliant.
Defensively, all of the back five were solid throughout.
Schar 10 – As good a performance from a centre-half that you could ask for.
Scored two goals of course, one of them a beauty, but most importantly made a massive last-ditch tackle in the second half.
Lascelles 7 – Slotted back into the side well and there was no signs of an injury which is a big plus.
I suspect he will get a rest against Watford next weekend which be well-earned.
Lejeune 8 – Looked back to his best.
Two good performances on the spin from him now. Just needs to stay fit.
Ritchie 9 – If anyone has earned a rest it is this guy. An absolute workhorse.
May not be the best player in the team but he’s up there with the most important.
Longstaff 8 – Another calm confident display. Almost Michael Carrick like in regards to his style.
Taking his chance at the moment!
Hayden 7 – Gritty performance which you can’t fault.
Put his body on the line at times and honestly, if he still wants to go then I won’t begrudge him.
Atsu 6 – A quiet game that he had very little impact on.
Perez 8 – A quiet first half followed by a brilliant second half.
Continued with the celebration. It would appear he has got no respect for me and I’ve got none for him.
Rondon 9.5 – Would have been a 10 if he had managed to find the net.
A complete centre-forward display.
Manquillo N/A – Not on long enough to judge.
