Michael Owen predicts Newcastle v Blackburn

Michael Owen has been having a look at the game at St James Park on Saturday night.

This will be Newcastle’s 12th FA Cup match against Blackburn (Won 6 Drawn 3 Lost 2) – Nottingham Forest are the only side they have faced more in the competition (16 times).

The last eight times Newcastle have hosted Blackburn in any competition, NUFC have lost six of them.

This includes two seasons ago when Blackburn won home and away in the Championship.

Fortune definitely favoured them though, as in both of the games, they only had one effort on target.

Nevertheless, Michael Owen sees Newcastle winning this one.

Despite not getting a goal or any points from Wednesday night, Owen thought Rafa’s team looked decent enough to show they can beat Championship opposition at home.

If so, it will be only the third home win Newcastle fans will have seen in these past eight months.

The last 10 Premier League matches have seen only eight goals and Rondon scored five of them.

Another was an own goal, with Perez and Clark getting one each. With the loan striker set to sit this one out, others ave to step up.

Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:

“United have lost eight of their 11 PL home games this season.

“It is sure to be a nervy St James’s Park if the Magpies can’t get an early goal against their Championship opposition.

“Rovers have won six of their last eight visits to St James’s Park in all competitions.

“But I saw enough against Manchester United earlier in the week to believe the hosts can get a welcome home win.

“Tip: Newcastle to win to nil 2/1.”
