Michael Owen as been discussing the game at St James Park on Wednesday night.
Newcastle United hosting Manchester United at an ‘interesting’ time for the two clubs.
Michael Owen points out that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become only the second Man Utd manager to start the job with four straight wins.
The fixtures have fallen kindly for a new manager as Man Utd were stuffed at Liverpool in Mourinho’s final match and instead Solskjaer has had Cardiff, Huddersfield and Bournemouth so far.
Michael Owen has confused the issue somewhat by predicting ‘United to win’ the match, not exactly going out on a limb with a draw being the only result he isn’t covering…
I am being facetious of course and we all know who he means, our former striker being disrespectful once again to a club and fans who paid him ridiculous money for four years and got next to nothing in return.
In recent times he’d stopped the disrespect and as well as not using ‘United’ for the Mancs when the two clubs met, Michael Owen has actually been referring to Newcastle as the more familiar ‘United’ when NUFC have played other clubs.
Interesting to see his stat about Rafa Benitez having won his last four home Premier League matches against Man Utd, a four game sequence covering the last decade.
A repeat of February’s 1-0 win would be massive for Rafa, the players and the fans, with a tough schedule of fixtures coming at a time when there are a lot of games with relegation threatened clubs playing each other.
Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become just the second manager in the history of Manchester United, after Sir Matt Busby in 1946, to win his first four games in charge of the club.
“If his rejuvenated and energetic United side win at St James Park on Wednesday.
“The Magpies have lost seven of their ten home PL games so far this season.
“But Rafa Benitez has won his last four home games against Manchester United in all competitions with PL teams – 2 x Liverpool, 1 x Chelsea and 1 x Newcastle.
“It promises to be an electric atmosphere at St James Park.
“But I expect the visitors to maintain their renaissance under Solksjaer and take all three points.
“Tip: United to win at 11/20.”
