Perez – times up, went missing yet again. You can forgive a lack of ability, but not a lack of effort.

    • Billmag

Agree about Perez, but yet another goal where Yedlin was at fault IMO, is there much difference between him and Manquillo.

      • Tweed Mag

Yedlin’s pace? Can’t think of too much else

      • robbersdog

Yedlin is a wing-back, but not a full-back, so mistakes like this are inevitable.

      • mentalman

If manquillo had yedlin’s pace he’d be first choice or should be, i actually think its time to give him a chance.

        • Billmag

Yedlin’s positioning is awful at times, Manquillo will probably play on Tuesday we have conceded far too many goals from Yedlin’s side of the pitch.

          • mentalman

without checking the stats i would say easily 60% of our goals conceded comes from that side. Its not just his positioning that is poor its all of the basics.
You could forgive him his defensive failings if he made up for it in attack but he doesn’t.

Manquillo will be on the left on tuesday with sterry on the right.

          • Billmag

Could well be, but I would rather see Manquillo on the right and Clarkie on the left.

Absolute rubbish. Perez was easily better than most of the rest of the Newcastle team. Done his best to make things happen, but is hampered by his slow witted clueless team mates.
The prejudice against Perez week in week out on here is tantamount to racism…because it certainly can’t be based on his performances – which are generally good. Ritchie, for example, is a far worse player and contributes next to nothing but somehow escapes criticism.

I sometimes wonder if half the contributors here know anything at all about football.

      • ScreamStevie

I think you are being generous with half. Perez had a good shout for a penalty but he ‘did nothing’. He is criticized for missing a chance that was no easier than the one missed by Rondon, but no-one comments on that.

        • Tweed Mag

It was not a penalty and Perez goes to ground too easily. Perhaps the refs know that.

          • ScreamStevie

Players have got penalties for less; like Salah. But regardless, he was in the box heading for goal and grabbed at by a Chelsea player. That’s hardly ‘doing nothing’.

          • Tweed Mag

No, watch it if you can. MoTD sum it up. Obviously we would have taken it, but the ref was right. Salah cheated, simple as that.

      • Tweed Mag

Ah well, everyone has an opinion and on this subject you seem to be at odds with David Pleat – he knows more than all of us put together.
