Following the Rio Ferdinand comments only this one statistic needs to be pushed

In amongst all the propaganda, fake news and general end of the world meltdown following the Rio Ferdinand comments before the Chelsea match on Saturday night, there is surely only one statistic that needs to keep being pushed to show the real problem and culprit.

It has been mentioned a few times and was mentioned at the very end of the programme by Jake Humphrey.

It can’t be argued with, unlike all the profit/loss/investment figures (even though we know what the real score is with them..) and should be the new focus in this end game of sh… we’re dealing with.

However, being 48 years old and technically incompetent, I’ll leave it up to someone else to drive forward a ‘hashtag’ on Twitter. Whatever that means..

The statistic is that Newcastle United had only been relegated four times between 1892 and Ashley taking over in 2007, four times.

If this season continues in its current vein (and we all obviously hope it won’t), it will be three relegations in the past 11 years (nine Premier League seasons) under Mike Ashley. Three times in 11 years! Three!!!

In that time we have had many different players with high level achievements to their name. Men who have won the Golden Boot (Owen), played in Euro Finals (Sissoko) and Champions League finals (Wijnaldum).

We have had different managers with different achievements to their credit. Men who have won the Champions League and foreign titles (Benitez), been national managers and won domestic cups (McClaren), overachieved in the Premier League with no resources ( Kinnear…Lord help us …and Hughton..) and local legends (Shearer). Yet they’ve all failed.

However, we have only had one owner.

If there is only one statistic that should be used to illustrate the criminal incompetence of the Ashley regime it is this. Three relegations, only one owner.

If those football men with great achievements and experience to their name can’t make the Ashley ‘business model’ (ahem).. work, then it illustrates something we’ve all known since at least 2013. It is not fit for purpose. Whatever Rio bloody Ferdinand thinks.

So go ahead all you techno savvy fans, or people who just want to slag off Rio Ferdinand, Dennis Wise, Tim bloody Sherwood etc.

Get a hashtag going because I can’t: 3 relegations, only 1 owner! I won’t claim copyright…
